Cleanse: Konjac

I remember when I was young, my mother used to have these loofahs made from dried vegetables.

These loofahs were gentle and made her skin so smooth!

So when I came across Meghan from The Konjac Sponge Company, all those memories came rushing back.

Konjac is a vegetable known for its nutritional properties.
These sponges go soft as a cotton roll the minute they are immersed in water.

They are used for cleansing the face without a cleanser. Just dip in water and massage onto skin in circular movements. That's it!

These sponges are suitable for every type of skin and are cruelty free+vegan!

You can visit TKSC HERE , or mail them HERE.

Their customer service people are the sweetest.

Halal: Eves- The Pink Tag

Recently, I met one of my friends for a quick catch-up. Amongst many things, I was surprised how glowing and radiant her skin looked!

A little prodding revealed how she had opted for Halal products, which are cruelty free, animal fats free, 100%vegetarian and free of harmful chemicals.

This got me really interested so I searched the internet for such products and found Eves-The Pink Tag.

I decided to try 3 of their many products, a hair gel, a toothpowder AloeVera Gel and ChocoSoap.

Now, toothpowders scare me. I'll be honest, they happen to be a little too abrasive for my brittle teeth.

Which is why I was so surprised with Eves! This product, as I was informed before, is totally gentle and whitens your teeth visibly in just two uses! Unbelievable, right?!

Since I had highlights on my hair and my hair felt dry and brittle, I decided to try the hairgel first and it turned out to be a very refreshing and rejuvenating solution for my hair! This is one product that has landed itself in my permanent haircare box.

The aloe gel has a shelf life of 6 months  but I dont think its going to last that long for me(hint: read my previous post on 40 uses of aloe).

Aaaaaaaand if anybody knows anything about me, they'll know my love for chocolate; hence it goes without saying I absolutely loved the ChocoSoap by Eves- which also happened to leave my skin feeling very moisturised.

If you want to try these products OR look at their range, or even if you have any doubts, you can mail Safia Ali at

40 Lesser known uses of Aloe Vera

Today, I bring you forty fabulous uses from this "plant of immortality," as affectionately dubbed by the Egyptians 6,000 years ago.
That's right; the spiky, green gem has a rich history of various cultures and personalities who used the plant's moist middle in a plethora of practical uses. Like Cleopatra who applied the gel to her body as part of her beauty regimen, the ancient Greeks who used it to cure everything from baldness to insomnia to the Native Americans who called aloe vera the "Wand of the Heaven."

1. Pamper yourself to a soothing body rub. Slice aloe leaves lengthwise and use the inner sides as a biodegradable body scrub in the shower.
2. Treat burns from minor mishaps in the kitchen—from grease splatters or hot utensils.
3. For more major kitchen mishaps like a scald, mix some aloe gel and vitamin E oil into a little jar for a homemade burn healer.
4. Banish black and blue bruises by swapping on the good goo.
5. Soothe and heal sunburns the feel-good way. Aloe contains cooling properties similar to menthol.
6. Take the sting or itch out of insect bites.
7. Reduce tissue damage from frostbite.
8. Alleviate mysterious rashes.
9. Make feet baby soft with an exfoliating foot mask by mixing together a half cup of oatmeal, a half cup of corn meal, four tbsp. of aloe vera gel and a half cup of unscented body lotion.
10. Help heal herpes outbreaks.
11. Fight Athlete's Foot.
12. Swab over blisters for quick relief.
13. Use as an antidote to allergic skin reactions.
14. Replace creams and lotions as a general moisturizer for dry skin. Aloe is fast absorbing!
15. Prevent pesky pimples and treat acne.
16. Soothe Psoriasis.
17. Prevent scarring and stretch marks.
18. Help rid of Rosacea.
19. Shrink warts.
20. Reverse signs of aging skin and wrinkles. Cleopatra did!
21. Help eliminate Eczema.
22. Brighten skin. Aloe can decrease pigmentation and dark spots.
23. Make skin new again with an exfoliating, organic sugar scrub by mixing together two tbsp. of aloe vera, 2 tbsp. of organic brown sugar and 1 tsp. of organic lemon juice.
24. For rougher patches mix together an organic salt skin scrub using two cups of sea salt, one cup of aloe vera, one cup of organic coconut oil and two tbsp. of local, organic honey.
25. Speed up hair growth by massaging aloe into the scalp, letting it sit for 30 minutes, and rinsing.
26. Reduce hair dandruff by mixing aloe vera juice with coconut milk and wheat germ oil. Massage into scalp and rinse.
27. Replace aloe with conditioner for silkier, smoother hair.
28. Remove eye makeup.
29. Treat minor vaginal irritations.
29. Treat minor vaginal irritations.
30. Drink aloe vera juice to relieve gastrointestinal disorders like indigestion.
31. Sip it to aid in elimination. Many times, it's recommended for its laxative effects.
32. Take a swig to reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome including bloating and discomfort.
33. Take aloe orally to relieve heartburn, arthritis and rheumatism pain.
34. Boil leaves in a pan of water and breathe in the vapor to alleviate asthma.
35. Drink to lower blood sugar levels—especially for diabetics.
36. Strengthen gums and promote strong, healthy teeth by taking orally or use toothpaste with aloe vera ingredients.
37. Drink to help ease congestion, stomach ulcers, colitis, hemorrhoids, urinary tract infections and prostate problems.
38. Take orally to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides for a healthy heart.
39. Sip to minimize inflammation and infection of the eye and ear.
40. Toast to its general detoxifier and health boosting qualities!

7 Must Watch Movies For The Fashion Buff!

There are only a few things that I enjoy as much as going through a fashion magazine or staying in to watch a movie. Getting to do both things at the same time is golden for me.
There have been many amazing series devoted to fashion and style, like the oh so perfect Gossip Girl, from the wardrobe, to the locations and the psychology of the characters that managed to inspire us in every single episode. Since the Serena Van Der Woodsen days are long gone, I thought it was time to bring back that amazing feeling, but this time focusing on the major motion pictures.
I’ve decided to share with you 7 of my favorite fashion related movies:

1. The Devil Wears Prada

Devil Wears Prada
I know you’ve probably seen this movie a billion times, but not including it would be a terrible sin. I won’t go a lot into what this movie is about because I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it. Just watch it and thank me later. This movie was adapted from a book written by Lauren Weisberger, who worked at Vogue magazine for awhile. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out she was inspired by Anna Wintour (American Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief) to create Meryl Streep’s character.

2. The September Issue

Anna Wintour
Talking about the Queen.
The September Issue is a documentary that focuses on Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief while preparing the start of the “Fashion Year”. If you didn’t know, september is like january for fashion magazines. It’s the most important issue of the year, and when you’re the leader of a magazine like Vogue, everything has to be perfect.

3. The Intern

The Intern
The Intern is a movie starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. It talks about an old man that applies for a retirement internship citizen program and lands a job at an e-commerce fashion startup. This is the best fashion + comedy combo. You’ll love it.

4. Coco Before Chanel

Coco Before Chanel
This movie is next on my list when I get to stay in. This french movie tells the story of Coco Chanel, all the way from her origins to the incredible empire she ended up building. She was truly a pioneer in the fashion world and everybody should know her story, plus I’m pretty sure this one is available on Netflix.

5. Funny Face

Funny Face
Funny Face is a musical from 1957 starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. Audrey’s character, Jo Stockton, is discovered at a fashion shoot in a bookstore and her adventures as a model take her all the way to Paris. If you love musicals, you will adore this movie. Besides, who doesn’t love a good Audrey Hepburn movie?

6. Confessions of a Shopaholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic
A girl that loves fashion, living in New York. Sounds like a dream, right? Yeah, well… things can get really messy when you’re a shopaholic. If you love to shop and your happiness leves rise overtime you see the word “sale” you will relate. Honestly this movie is all of us, and its perfect for a popcorn night with your bestie.

7. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany's
Another Audrey Hepburn movie and a classic for sure. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is based on a book written by Truman Capote. It revolves around the peculiar life of Holly Golightly, a New Yorker socialite and her cat. If you haven’t seen this one, do it, you won’t regret it. Besides, it has just the perfect touch of romance

Summer Special: Neesh Fragrances!

It is summertime, baby!

Summer is here and has brought with itself soooo much! Along with everything else, it is also a great time to explore all those fruity, refreshing perfumes that are going to be the need of the hour as the temperature rises.

One thing about perfumes I really dont like is, you have to reapply it every couple of hours. It requires effort on my part, which is difficult since I am very lazy. I dislike touch-ups.

This time, I was bored of the bottles I had and decided to look for whats new in the market.
It was then that I came across Neesh.
A few minutes with their customer service made me realise this is the one brand that I had been searching for all this while and got myself quite a few of them to try personally, listed below.

These perfumes last upto 12 hours, with each spray costing less than 1 rupee.
The best part is these are really space-effective and fit in to any bag easily.

Belle D'Oud
Let's talk about my favourite first. This has a classy, subtle scent with musk as base, and Iran Saffron for the top. There is slight hint of Indian Rose too, which is my favourite.

Moha-Beau-T
Can we talk about just how quirky these names are? I love it. ^_^
The fragrance might feel a little much at first, but once you let it sit on you for 15 minutes, it is redolent of a perfect balance of Saffron and French Rose. You can wear this for a sensuous charm around you.

Eau-De-Mehfil
Seriously, what a great name!
Wore this one to a family get-together and it was perfect. The scent has a powerful top note which wafts through and is quite tempting and oriental. It has Arabian Bakhoor and Castoreum which provides for that bold and distinctive identity one looks for in social functions.

Amour De-Oud
Amour De-Oud has a fruity, flirty aroma with White Lily and Honey Rose. It is savory and spicy, and quite sweet-smelling, perfect for a day-out with your friends.

I am looking forward to buy Attar-e-Nazajat and Zaafraan-e-Hindustan in the near future; If you want to buy yourself a few of these and others, you can visit them on www.neesh.in .
Alternatively, you can email them at info@neesh.in or call them on +91-7206277777 and buy for yourself or your special someone, some of them. They are  available for women AND men, so there is a range of variants you can choose from.
